Monitor Cloud Infrastructure Changes
See how your infrastructure looked last week, last month, or any point in the past
Overview
Infrastructure change monitoring automatically tracks configuration changes in your AWS environment. This feature is useful for monitoring configuration changes of your AWS resources and understanding how your infrastructure evolves over time. Whenever a change is detected, we will automatically update the diagram with a new version (see diagram version history) and optionally notify your team (ex. Slack or Teams channels) of the top changes.
Automated monitoring combined with diagram history gives your team superpowers:
- Be notified when something changes in your infrastructure, so your team can always double-check if these changes are intended and as expected or not
- Know exactly what’s changed in the form of a visual diagram or JSON diff
- Complete history of your infrastructure changes. Access your infrastructure change history whenever you need it—whether debugging failed deployments, troubleshooting issues, or conducting security audits
Enabling Automated Monitoring

- Generate your infrastructure diagram. Use our views and filter expressions to visualize resources that you want to monitor.
- Click the Enable Automated Tracking button in the diagram toolbar. This will open a view where you can enable monitoring and optionally configure additional options:

- Include non-configuration changes. When checked, we will include non-configuration changes to resources (such as changes in DynamoDB table size, item count or SQS delayed messages, etc.)
- Recipients for change notifications. Configure the recipients to receive notifications when changes are detected.
Note: By default, no AWS accounts and regions are monitored until automated tracking is explicitly enabled.
Notify Your Team of Infrastructure Changes
![Notification slack](/assets/monitor-cloud-infrastructure-changes/notification-slack.png)
By configuring notifications, you can keep your team updated on cloud infrastructure changes via channels such as Slack or Microsoft Teams. You can add up to two email addresses as notification recipients for each automated diagram.
We will aggregate all changes for resources that were Added, Modified or Deleted for each automated diagram and send top changes to the configured recipients.
Access Your Infrastructure Change History
You can access all your infrastructure change history for specific diagram by clicking the Version History in the diagram toolbar. This will open a view where you can see all the change history of the diagram.

You can easily compare any diagram version to see exactly what has changed, either in the form of a visual diagram or JSON diff.

Default Monitoring Limits
We have built the monitoring to be adjustable to your needs and use-cases. However there are some default limits that apply to all Teams subscribers.
If you need to increase any of these limits (see below), please contact us.
Monitoring Frequency
When automated monitoring is enabled, your AWS resource configurations are checked every three hours.
AWS Account-Region Pairs
Every Teams subscriber can monitor up to 5 AWS account-region pairs.
Automated Diagrams
Every Teams subscriber can monitor up to 20 diagrams.
